The Driller Position on a Cyclone Rig is one step below Rig Manager.  An ideal candidate will have 5+ yrs of experience on a large Oil and Gas Drilling rig and will be considered for our A/C, D/C, or Mechanically powered rigs based on experience with each system.

 Qualifications

    ​Required
·         High School Diploma or GED
·         2+ years experience on a large Oil and Gas Drilling rig
·         Effective written and verbal communications
·         US Citizen or Green Card holder
    ​Preferred
·         5+ years experience on a large Oil and Gas Drilling rig
·         1+ years experience as a driller on a large Oil and Gas Drilling rig​
·         Safeland USA Training
·         History of employment showing long commitment to each employer


Responsibilites
 
The Driller is under the direct supervision of the Toolpusher and is responsible for hiring and terminating his/her crew when approved by the Toolpusher. Drillers must be able to perform any job on the rig required of his hands in order to train them properly.  Refer to all other job descriptions in necessary.  The Driller must know the safe operating limits of the rig and keep within those bounds.  He/ she are responsible for the operation of drilling and hoisting equipment. 
 
Duties Include:
  1. Operating a drilling rig and associated equipment for a specified tour, usually 12 hours
  2. Supervise 3 or more crew members
  3. Supervise the routine maintenance of all rig equipment
  4. Keep rig clean and maintained
  5. Train crew members in safe and efficient operating practices and document such training
  6. Enforce all Cyclone safety regulations, operating policies and procedures
  7. Complete tour reports, accident reports, safety meetings, near miss, JSA, hazard ID’s etc. when needed as instructed by the Toolpusher.
 
Requirements Include:
  1. Must have sufficient knowledge of the drilling operations to make reasonable decisions regarding bit condition, hole condition, blowout detection and well control under blowout conditions.
  2. Must be able to work all other rig positions if needed.
  3. Must be in good health and in relatively good physical conditions. 
  4. Must be mentally alert at all times
  5. Must be able to see gauges and dials at a distance between 1 to 10 feet away
  6. Must be able to see Derrickhand at distance of 60 to 90 feet away
  7. Must have high degree of mechanical aptitude and be capable of performing the duties of any crewmember
 
Physical Requirements Include:
  1. Must be able to tolerate at least 10-12 hours of standing and 3 hours walking throughout the workday
  2. Must be able to lift/carry between 10 to 20 pounds frequently throughout the workday with occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds
  3. Must be able to knee, reach and work at heights rarely during the day as well as occasional bending
  4. Must be able to grasp occasionally throughout the day and frequently push and pull objects through the workday
